Hiking trails at Lake Wister State Park include the Lone Star Interpretative Trail, a 3/4 mile self-guided nature trail which winds through forest and up to a rocky ridge that runs through the park.

There are 28,300 acres serving as public hunting area, offering numerous waterfowl, quail, squirrel, rabbit and deer. A 2,000 acre Waterfowl Refuge is also featured, but hunting can be found at Wister Wildlife Management Area.
