Event Details

The Big Blue Talking Toms Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will hold its Annual JAKES event as a part of the NWTF's JAKES program. Developed in 1981, the JAKES program is dedicated to informing, educating and involving youth in wildlife conservation and the wise stewardship of our natural resources. Each JAKES event focuses on conservation and outdoor recreation, with expert instructors teaching important lessons in wildlife management tied into a strong family-values theme. With an emphasis on fun, the events keep kids interested while learning.

JAKES (Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics and Sportsmanship) field days provide children the opportunity to experience the outdoors through hands-on events, education, fellowship and family fun. Children attending JAKES events learn about hunting, camping, fishing and many other
conservation-related topics.

Some of the activities that will be offered at this year's event include Pole Fishing, BB Gun Target Shooting, Turkey Calling Demonstrations, Fish Casting Contests, Archery, Fly Tying and Casting, Black Powder Shooting, and Horseback Riding. All attendees will also be provided lunch.
