Corsicana

Established 1849, Corsicana experienced an early boom in 1894 when the city was drilling for water and accidentally struck oil. One of Texas’ first refineries was built here in 1897. Corsicana was the first city in the state to use natural gas for fuel and lighting, and crude oil for locomotive fuel. Today, it is the retail and wholesale center for the rich blacklands agricultural area. Enjoy the municipal park, swimming, and golf, and home of Navarro College.
