category : Historic Hotels
Hassayampa Building The Venetta Hotel, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was built in 1905 specifically to serve overnight railroad passengers and early day tourists to the Wickenburg area and Castle Hot Springs. Mrs. Elizabeth Smith contracted one of Arizona's finest architects of the time, Mr. James Creighton, to design and build the hotel.

The two-story brick structure served as the crowning touch to the wood, brick and stucco buildings built on Railroad Street. The building was heated by nine fireplaces, has a community kitchen and an outdoor barbeque area. Known as the Hassayampa Building, it now contains offices and shops.
