El Dorado State Park and Lake Where Special Events Happen
El Dorado Lake is located just north and east of the City of El Dorado at the edge of the scenic Flint Hills. The lake has approximately 8,000 surface acres of water with 98 miles of shoreline. There are approximately 6,000 acres of land available for public hunting and approximately 4,000 acres of developed parks and recreation areas. A variety of campsites, facilities, utility hookups and several shower houses are located throughout the park area. All total nearly 1,100 capsites offer visitors the outdoor experience. New to the Park are the two delux cabins. These cabins feature a furnished kitchen, a full bathroom with shower, a separate bedroom, and a sleeping loft. The deluxe cabins will sleep from six to ten persons. Cabin rentals can be obtained by calling the State Park Office at 316-321-7180.

The historic Butler County Courthouse was built in 1909. Its Romanesque Style was designed by famed architect, George P. Washburn. Its terrazzo floors are still intact and reflect its elegant history. The first woman jury in Kansas met here in 1912.
