Winfield, Kansas

The Italianate Victorian home presently known as Hiatt's House Restaurant, owned by Mr. & Mrs. Richard Tredway, was built in 1879 by Col. J.C. McMullen, a local banker. Other owners were George Miller of the famed 101 Ranch from 1888 to 1902, and the J.W. Hiatt family from 1902 to 1974, great grandparents of Nancy Tredway.

The house is noted for the curved window lintels with key stones and drip stones, tower, parapet with corbels, unique pediment, stained glass windows, and double front doors.

Inside features include a circular spiral stairway to the third floor with unique newel post, pocket doors, transoms over the single doors and three original fireplaces.

Viet Nam War Memorial (Memorial Park)

Constructed as a replica of the Washington D.C. Viet Nam War Memorial, this memorial is found in Memorial Park just east of the Courthouse. The Memorial is engraved with the names of 777 servicemen and nurses from the State of Kansas who were killed or missing in action during the Viet Nam War.
