Caldwell, Kansas

Caldwell's Opera House is Caldwell's oldest building. The building housed Caldwell's fist opera house in 1879 and boasts a colorful history, including the site of a shootout between Caldwell citizens and cowboy outlaws. The building was purchased and restored by the Caldwell Historical Society and today is used for cultural and entertainment events. It also showcases a display of historical artifacts from the 1880's during Caldwell's "hey0day" as a "rough and ready" cowtown along the Chisholm Trail.
