The rich history and heritage of the Leavenworth and Fort Leavenworth community is closely tied to it's sister river towns of Atchison, Kansas and Weston, Missouri. Located in close proximity, the three combine to form the vivid tapestry that is "The River Connection".

Located just 45 minutes northwest of Kansas City, these three communities are eager to share their warm hospitality and unique history and heritage. While visiting the Veterans Administration Center and its grounds, you will want to see the Chapel of Veteran's. The Chapel, built in 1893, features architecture reminiscent of the early European cathedrals. In 1921, this attraction was made famous in Ripley's "Believe It or Not"
