Elwood Wildlife Area
The Elwood Wildlife Area was purchased by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks in 2006, who then took management control in March of 2007. The Elwood Wildlife Area is located along Frontage Road, south of US 36 Highway in Elwood. The area consists of approximately 1,090 acres of nature and hunting ground.
The Elwood Wildlife Area is entirely open to hunting, but is restricted to the following weapons: shotgun, archery, and muzzleloader. There are excellent opportunities for deer, turkeys, dove and rabbits. Limited opportunities exist for pheasant and quail, as hunting for them is restricted to only Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday.
The Elwood Wildlife Area has two main entrances, one at the east end and one at the west end, both along Frontage Road. The area also has two parking areas, located at both entrances. The Elwood Wildlife Area is regulated by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks.
