For a beautiful perspective, travel the 41 mile Cherohala Skyway that connects Hwy 143 from Robbinsville to Hwy 165 in Tellico Plains, TN. Called a mini-Blue Ridge Parkway, it follows the crest of the Unicoi Mtns. in the Cherokee and Nantahala National Forest, thus the name. Highest point 5,390 ft.
