Clay County Museum
The Clay County Historical Society is proud to welcome you to their fine museum complex which was made a reality in 1980 to exhibit and protect the county’s artifacts and archival materials.
Near the Museum is Heritage Park – a quarter block outdoor exhibit of agricultural equipment from the 1880s through the 1940s. Also included is a rural one-room school house and a railroad caboose. Across the street is the newly erected large exhibits building to house antique tractors, steam engines, stationary engines, buggies, cars, trucks, fire equipment, blacksmith shop, etc.

Besides offering a number of rotating exhibits, the Museum offers annually a variety of special programs and workshops. Programs have included: a genealogical workshop, a remote radio broadcast by KMMJ, a workshop on restoring antique woodenwares, a special exhibition of classic antique autos, a youth workshop on the dust bowl years, a candlelight Christmas program at the Museum and the KMMJ Alumni Hall of Fame Banquet.
The Clay County Historical Society also maintains and conducts tours of the St. Martins Catholic Church (Loucky) west of Deweese, and is the sponsor of the annual Old Trusty Antique & Collectors Show in September.
