Hanby House was the home of Benjamin Hanby, composer of numerous songs, including the famous "Darling Nelly Gray" and "Up On The Housetop." The house was built in 1846 and was occupied by the Hanby family from 1853 to 1870. Ben Hanby's father, Bishop William Hanby, a United Bretheren minister, was a co-founder of Otterbein College.

Hanby House was also a site on the underground railroad. It has been designated a United Methodist Shrine. The house contains many items that belonged to members and friends of the Hanby family. Of particular interest is a desk built by Ben, while a student at Otterbein, as well as his flute and the original plates of his song Darling Nellie Gray published by the Oliver Ditson Company.

The hours are for the months of May through October.
