Hamilton OH City of Sculpture

category : Other Attractions
On August 16, 2000, Hamilton received Governor Bob Taft's recognition as "The City of Sculpture.? Since then, a full Board of Trustees has been established and many sculptures by well known sculptors have been installed in Hamilton demonstrating that community members and other organizations are becoming increasingly energized through this vision.

New sculptures recently installed includes Kristen Visbal?s 13-foot high bronze The American Cape Sculpture of Alexander Hamilton, the City of Hamilton?s namesake, which was entirely funded through private donations of more than $200,000.? Other newly installed pieces, including Nancy Schon's "Lentil" and a commissioned piece by the City of Sculpture's first artist-in-residence from a ground-level Artist-in-Residence Program, has raised the total of public sculptures in Hamilton to more than 35 pieces.

IceFest, also a product of this group, is the biennual event held each January in downtown Hamilton that includes more than 100 ice sculptures on display, ice carving competitions, children's activities, and more!?
