Quartz Mountain Golf Course
Breathtaking natural beauty is probably the most distinguishable feature of Quartz Mountain Golf Course. Located at the base of rocky Quartz Mountain on the western edge of the Wichita mountains range, the course is surrounded by a sea of sage and prairie grass.
As far as playability, the course itself is fairly flat, but winds swirl around the mountains and the dam of Lake Altus-Lugert, adding difficulty. The winds give rise to the nickname for the tough 440-yard fourth hole, “Headwinds,” which smacks right into a prevailing southwest wind. The par-five 10th hole also challenges – its 600-yard drive is called “Forever,” because, as one golf pro said, “That’s how long it takes.”
Quartz Mountain Resort offers comfortable lodging and a variety of recreational activities. Headquarters to the Oklahoma Arts Institute, the resort teems with talented artists and performers each summer and fall.
18 holes, Par 71 * Bent Grass Greens * Bermuda Tees & Fairways
