Hilton Head/Leamington Lighthouse

This cast iron tower was built on Leamington Plantation in 1891 to replace an earlier c. 1863 tower destroyed by winds. Restored in 1986, the 90-ft. tower has 112 steps leading to the top. It stands on Palmetto Dunes golf course and is open to the public only with special permission of the Greenwood Development Corporation. Call Cathy Dykes at 843-785-1106.
