Parkersburg Art Center Exhibit - Magically Real

category : Arts
New York artist Elizabeth Austin's cheerful paintings suggest a very idealized look at nature and the outdoors. Our docents researched this artist and asked for her work specifically because of the highly original way she handles these cliched topics. For example, a branch of hydrangea blossoms, painted against a night sky, suddenly becomes doves taking flight. What looks at first glance, to be a crabapple, becomes a doorway into a forest.
