Tamarack’s July 1 Sunday @ Two featuring the Mountain State Brass Band fits the Fourth of July bill. The band will play “Stars and Stripes Forever,” “America the Beautiful,” “Onward Christian Soldiers,” “Amazing Grace” and the “American Freedom March,” among other patriotic songs.
On July 7 with Ilene Evans’ portrayal of Harriet Tubman. Tubman was born into slavery in Maryland but escaped through the Underground Railroad to Pennsylvania in 1849. She then became the most famous leader of that network, aiding slaves in their escape to free states and Canada. She was never caught and never lost a slave on the route to freedom. Evan performs as part of the History Alive! Program of the West Virginia Humanities Council. On July 15, Tamarack welcomes the No Pants Players, a family-friendly comedy improv group. Much like the British and American versions of the television show Whose Line Is It Anyway?, this comedy troupe of eight depends on audience participation and is totally unscripted.
On July 22 Mick Souter performs “Ever Sings a River”. Actor, musician and storyteller, Souter traces the historic western exploration of American using rivers as his theme. His stories and songs of America will entertain and education people of all ages.
