Panther Creek State Park

Panther Creek State Park, covering approximately 1,435 acres, is located on the shores of Cherokee Reservoir, an impoundment of the Holston River. Panther Creek has 50 campsites complete with water, electrical hookups, grills, picnic tables, fire rings and a bathhouse facility. A laundromat facility is also available.

The two bathhouse facilities provide hot showers, commodes, and lavatories. The campground also has a dump station for self-contained trailer rigs. Campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Maximum stay is two weeks.

Swimming

Panther Creek State Park's large fan-shaped swimming pool opens Memorial Day weekend and is available for your recreation through August 5, 2007. Schedule follows:
Open Monday and Tuesday, 10:30 am - 6:00 pm
Closed Wednesday and Thursday
Open Friday and Saturday, 10:30 am - 6:00 pm
Open Sunday, 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm

There is a high dive, a low dive and a wading pool for small children. A lifeguard is on duty during pool hours.

Aside from lots of nice grassy areas on which to sunbathe, there is also a small shelter for those who want to get out of the sun.

Cherokee Dam Campground

This is a self-service campground (423-585-2120). 42 campsites with water and electric hookups, rest rooms with heated showers and flush toilets, dump station, children's play equipment, picnic tables and grills, group pavilion available by reservation, swimming beach, boat ramps above dam and below dam, lake and river fishing, paved walking trail, bird-watching.

This pavilion has the following amenities: (1) electrical outlet with (2) plug ins, there is no lighting under the pavilion, (10) tables that will seat 50 people, (1) large charcoal grill, handicap accessible, restrooms near by (about 1100 feet), near the beach area & boat ramp, paved parking lot, water is furnished, and there is horseshoes and stakes, no other equipment for activities such as volleyball poles/net, etc.

From Jefferson City, Tenn., go 1.5 miles west on US 11E, then follow signs 4.5 miles north to Cherokee Dam Reservation.
