Haunted Statehouse Tours

An asylum cell, chess figures made from prisoners’ bones and other macabre curiosities were housed long ago in the Statehouse Relic Room, a chamber original to the Statehouse that was the first home of the Ohio Historical Society. This edition of Haunted Statehouse Tours will feature items from a reincarnated relic room in addition to the spirits and legends of the Statehouse past. Two weekends, Fridays and Saturdays.

Tall yarns spun with facts come to life on this 40-minute tour guided by costumed guides carrying oil lamps through the marble halls and under the vaulted passageways of the 146-year-old Statehouse. You’ll catch a glimpse of a lovelorn President Lincoln dancing with Lady Chase in the Senate Chamber. You’ll see and hear chilling stories of the President Harrison Horror, the Senate Clerk who never left, the wolves of Wolf Run.

Come early and stay late. The Museum Shop will be open until 9:30 p.m.; food such as finger sandwiches, Mummy dogs, wine, owl-eye cookies and spider cider will be available in the Capitol Cafe by Shane’s; and we’ll have a free potion-making activity for kids of all ages (to make you loved, strong, smart…you name it). Space is limited. To assure we have a place for you, guests must register and purchase tickets in advance.
