Event Details

Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society's signature activity.  It offers everyone in the community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer.  Teams of people camp out at Conner Park, Ballville Township, and take turns walking or running around the paved track.  Participants celebrate cancer survivors during a pre-event to the Relay and at the opening survivor kick-off lap.  Fundraising money is collected from each team to support the mission of research, education, advocacy, and cancer patient services.  Entertainment, team activities, children's games, a luminaria ceremony (a candle in a bag to honor or memorialize someone who has or had cancer), and fellowship for 18 hours make up only a small portion of the Relay for Life experience.  The American Cancer Society Relay For Life represents the hope that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that whose who face cancer will be supported, and that one day cancer will be eliminated.
