Fiesta Glendale

An upscale event highlighting both traditional and contemporary Hispanic music, dances, food, crafts, activities for children and fine art. The celebration also includes a special Fiestas patrias ceremony. Event hours are Noon -10 p.m. Saturday in Historic Downtown Glendale.

Visitors will discover two stages of entertainment. The America West Airlines Stage features traditional acts including mariachis, flamenco dancers and a performance by Glendale based Ballet Folklorico Fiesta Mexicana. Directed by Daniel Martinez, formerly associated with the world renowned Ballet Folklorico de Amalia Hernandez in Mexico City, BFFM is the Southwest's premier dance group and was recently invited to perform at both Universal Studios and Disneyland.

The Budweiser Stage features the latest in contemporary Latin rock, tejano and jazz bands. Both local and national acts have performed in recent years.

In addition to great entertainment the fiesta also includes an exhibit of Hispanic fine art, street performers, traditional hands-on Mexican arts and crafts, Loteria and other children's activities. There is always a nice food court including a variety of selections from Mexico, Argentina, El Salvad and the Southwestern United States.

There are more than 2,000 parking places within a 10-minute walk of Murphy Park located in the heart of Historic Downtown Glendale at 58th and Glendale avenues.
