Since many people search for their family histories, the genealogy rooms in the Thayer County Museum in Belvidere are ones often visited by tourists and former citizens. Closely associated with the genealogy department are the newspaper files. Most of the newspapers of the county, many no longer in publication, have placed their files at the museum. This includes early records of the Hebron Journal, the first newspaper of the county.
