Independence Museum The Independence Historical Museum, owned and operated by the Ladies Library and Art Association, stands as one of the city's prime cultural attractions. Housed in the former city post office building, it has over 20 rooms containing valuable antiques and unique artwork, with each room focusing on a particular theme or culture.

See the reconstruction of one of Montgomery County's first log cabins, and the ongoing renovation of Miss Liberty - the large statue that stood atop the Montgomery County Courthouse from the 1880s to 1930.
