Lake Sakakawea Trails Lake Sakakawea State Park is the terminus of the North Country National Scenic Trail and has a certified, 1.3-mile segment of the trail within its boundaries. When completed, the North Country Trail will stretch 3,200 miles from upstate New York to Lake Sakakawea State Park, where it joins the route of the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail. The trail provides an excellent vantage point for viewing the park's plants, animals and geological features.
