Meade Lake Birdwatching Considered by many the top spot in the central United States for bird watching, the lake area is inhabited by over 300 species. From April 15 to October 15, Meade State Park is open to accommodate campers, fishermen, and park users. Vehicle and camping permits are available at the park office along with fishing licenses, hunting licenses, and 30-day boating permits.

In the 80-acre lake, bluegill, channel cat and largemouth bass are plentiful and provide excellent opportunities for the angler. A boat ramp is available to unload boats. No skiing or pleasure boating is allowed and all boats must be operated at no-wake speeds.

Meade Lake Hunting

While small, the 360-acre wildlife area offers good opportunities for dove and quail hunters. Deer, turkey, rabbit and some waterfowl also inhabit the area and offer hunters an occasional mixed bag. Deer may only be hunted with bow or muzzleloading firearms. Steel shot only for waterfowl.
