Annual Nicodemus Homecoming Emancipation Celebration originally held to mark the emancipation of slaves from the West Indies has been celebrated continuously since 1878 and draws together the descendents of Nicodemus for a family reunion numbering up to 1000 people. Held traditionally the last weekend in July, this 3 day event features a parade, the Buffalo Soldiers Cavalry, sport competitions, children's activities, free pancake breakfast, food vendors, free health screenings, dances, fashion and talent shows.
