Great Civil War Encampment and Battle Reenactment
- Don't miss the largest Civil War Encampment and Battle Reenactment in N.E. Ohio! Hundreds of costumed participants representing North and South troops and civilians will be on the beautiful 8-acre site during the weekend event. Guests will find artillery, Gatling gun and unique weaponry demonstrations. There are plenty of activities for the entire family; historic vendors selling Civil War souvenirs and crafters with hand made treasures and period "commissary" tent with unique food offerings. A "Johnnycake Cookoff" will give local cooks the chance to demonstrate their skill with dutch ovens. A children's activities area will allow young ones to enlist and drill or dress in period clothes. Kids can write a letter to the troops, and participate in children's games of the period. There will be photo opportunities galore in the troop camps, or in the Historic Village or in the 1876 museum building where Civil War fashion shows and Sunday morning period church service will be held. Located just 25 miles east of Cleveland, the Lake County History Center is just minutes off I90 at 415 Riverside Dr., Painesville, Oh. 44077.
