The Portland Observatory (1807), located at 138 Congress St., is the last remaining maritime signal tower (it's not a lighthouse) in the United States. It became a National Historic Landmark in 1971. Visitors will be treated to historical exhibits, guided tours, gift shop, and spectacular views of Portland Harbor.
