Sand Run Metro Park

category : Parks
The 987 acres that make up Sand Run Metro Park have been greeting visitors for centuries, including American Indians who portaged canoes between the Cuyahoga and Tuscarawas rivers. Today, the park contains more than 14 miles of hiking and jogging trails, open-air shelters and pavilions, a soccer field and areas for sledding, cross-country skiing and ice skating.

Visitors can drive through the water of a ford crossing, where Sand Run meanders across Sand Run Parkway. Each spring, nature enthusiasts enjoy watching hundreds of spotted salamanders cross the road while migrating to a vernal pool.
