Wayne County Museum

The museum focuses on Wayne County people, events and artifacts. It features rotating exhibits as well as a permanent Civil War exhibit featuring a Confederate camp scene and a diorama of the Battle of Goldsborough Bridge. The building, built in 1927

Willow Dale Cemetery

In early 1853, Colonel Charles Nelson was authorized by the City Commissioners to survey and plan a cemetery. Today, Willow Dale Cemetery holds the promise of much historical significance. Visit the Confederate Monument, erected in 1883 beneath which is the mass grave of 800
