27 - 30 Lyme Art Association Summer Solstice Paint Out - Old Lyme has been the center of "plein air" painting for more than 100 years with artists capturing the unique summer light. In celebration, artists are invited to paint in the beautiful gardens of the Florence Griswold Museum. There will be a "wet paint" sale of their works at Lyme Art Association, 90 Lyme St., June 24 and 25.

8 Re-Opening of America's Home of Impressionism - The Florence Griswold House, the historic centerpiece of the Museum, reopens to public having undergone extensive restoration. This 1817 National Historic Landmark was the original boardinghouse for the Lyme Art Colony from 1899 to the 1930s. Open to the public in 1947, the Museum is named after Florence Griswold, who transformed her family home into a country retreat for artists.

5 - 6 20th Annual Midsummer Festival - Outdoor performance Friday evening at the Florence Griswold Museum (96 Lyme St.). On Saturday, the town becomes a Market En Plein Air offering fresh Connecticut-grown flowers, vegetables, fruits, breads, fine cheeses, herbs; hands-on, minds-on activity tent with fun and educational projects.
