- German entertainment, bingo, sauerkraut and wiener food. Sauerkraut Day truly is a festive occasion that has been going on since 1925. It is the closest you can get to a "harvest festival" in modern times. People attend from miles around, and frequently from other states. Sauerkraut Day is not just from 11 am to 1 pm. It's an "almost all-day" affair including Bingo, a Vendor Show at the National Guard Armory, and pie social at the Baptist Church. Mark your calendar for the 2nd Wednesday in October every year.
