Event Details

Start making plans to attend the annual alumni reunion. It's time to renew those friendships and reminisce about the good old days at NHS! A tour of the old building will quickly bring back a store of memories. Honored classes have sent invitations and have begun making plans with classmates!!

Saturday:

4:00 pm to 6:45 pm - Registration at school gym
5:00 pm to 6:30 pm - Social Hour at the WFLA Hall
7:00 pm - Banquet in the school gym
9:00 pm - FREE dance at the WFLA Hall

Sunday church services with coffee and rolls.

Chief Standing Bear

Ponca Chief Standing Bear merely wanted to fulfill a promise; instead, he became part of one of the West's most famous trials. The Chief's son, like many of his tribe, had taken ill after being forced onto a reservation in Oklahoma. On his deathbed, the son uttered a final wish:

Niobrara Museum

Included in the displays and items of our interesting past in the museum are:

  • Collections of items from Niobrara and surrounding area
  • Documents of the three Niobrara towns' activities

Church of Our Most Merciful Savior

Built in 1884, this one story church with board and batten siding is the only surviving Episcopal mission in the county. Services are still conducted with a beautifully wood finished interior. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Ponca Tribe Marker

This has been the homeland of the Ponca Indians since earliest recorded history. In 1866, the Federal government signed the treaty of Fort Laramie, which transferred the land to the Sioux without the permission of the Ponca. Treaties made with the government in 1856
