Noble House

category : Famous Homes
Noble House The current Noble House structure was built in 1912 by Abe Bills, and replaced an old landmark wooden rooming house. The lower level of the new building housed a residence and a barber shop for Mr. Bills, his wife and daughter. The upstairs portion served as a rooming house.

Abe Bills' daughter, Oretta, and her husband continued to operate The Noble House Hotel until 1960, when she sold it. It changed hands a couple of times and it fell in disrepair and sat vacant from 1985 until 1991. The Blaine County Board of Commissioners obtained ownership in 1990, and later deeded it over to the Watonga Chamber of Commerce that same year.

The Chamber hoped to find some positive purpose for the building in order to retain its history. The Noble Hotel Corporation was formed in 1991 and with local investment and effort by the National Park Service and the Oklahoma Historical Society, the restoration began in earnest and today we have the restored Noble House Restaurant, which is listed on the National Registry of Historical Buildings.

As you look around, we hope you can see some reminders of the days gone by and know that the corporation is sincerely interested in your enjoyment of the atmosphere and most of all, the food. We hope you leave with just enough nostalgia to whet your appetite to return again soon.
