North East of Winfield, Winfield City Lake is used for boating, fishing, picnics, and camping. Camper hookup facilities are available, permits are required and available on an annual or daily basis.

Camping
At Winfield City Lake camper pads located on both sides of the lake offer water, electric, and sewer hookups for your camping needs. And for the ultimate in primitive camping, tents may be pitched anywhere for camping.

Camping Fees are as follows:

Electric hookups w/permit - $8.00
Camper pad w/electric, water, sewer w/permit - $8.00
Primitive camping - $2.00.

Water Skiing
Winfield City Lake offers wonderful opportunities to water ski. While water skiing is invited, please remember a few rules for the safety of all Lake visitors. All water skiing must operate in a counterclockwise direction. Skiing is allowed from one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset. Have at least two people in the boat, one to drive and one to watch the skier. If a watcher is not available, a wide-angle ski mirror is required. Remember, nothing beats common sense and courtesy.

Swimming
Swimming is permitted in the swimming beach area located on the north side of the Lake. The beach is closed from midnight to sunrise. No glass, alcoholic beverages, or animals are permitted on the beach

Fishing
Abundant fish populations makes Winfield City Lake one of the best fishing spots in Kansas. A recreation permit and KANSAS FISHING LICENSE are required to fish at the lake. Trotlines, juglines, limblines, and ice fishing are prohibited.


Timber Creek Marina
Located on the south side of the Lake is Timber Creek Marina. This marina provides a number of services to Lake visitors such as food, fuel, boating supplies, and fish bait. Fisherman, campers, boaters, and sightseers will find what they need here during the summer.

Hunting

During the State waterfowl season, designated areas of the Lake are open to hunting. In addition to State and Federal required licenses, hunters are required to purchase a Winfield City Lake hunting permit at a cost of $7.50 for Cowley County residents and $15.00 for nonresidents.

A $50.00 refundable deposit is required for all blinds that are constructed on Lake grounds.

Only waterfowl may be hunted. Hunting of upland game birds, fur-bearing animals, deer, predatory animals, and the trapping of fur-bearing animals is prohibited.

Permits for Recreation & Boating
Recreation and boating permits may be obtained from the Lake Office, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. located at the south end of the dam, or at Winfield City Hall, 200 E. 9th Ave., during regular business hours, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

RECREATION PERMITS entitle all members of the household to enjoy the Lake facility. Remember all vehicles parked on Lake grounds must display a recreation permit. Annual permits require registering the vehicle.

Located just 8 miles northeast of Winfield, the City Lake is 6 miles east of US-77 on Cowley Road 8. Cowley Road 8 is accessed from US-77, 8 miles north of Winfield or 2 miles south of the US-77/KS-15 junction.
