Iowa's only Pennsylvania Dutch double-decker bank barn. Built in 1857 with hand-laid stone and hand-hewn timbers joined with wooden pegs, it features three cupolas. One of the oldest and largest barns in Iowa.
Iowa's only national cemetery, designated by Congress at the same time as Arlington National Cemetery. Union and Confederate soldiers, as well as members of the military representing all conflicts since the Civil War, are buried here.
Watch living history demonstrations and visit with costumed interpreters at this reconstructed military fort on the banks of the Mississippi. Built in 1808, the original structure was destroyed in 1813 when abandoned by U.S. military soldiers.
