Fort Cobb Public Hunting Area lies northwest of the lake and consists of approximately 3,500 acres of rangeland and abandoned fields overgrown with blackjack thickets. Game species include quail, rabbit, squirrel, dove, deer and turkey.
Although Fort Cobb was well-known as the world's largest crow roost, attracting crow hunters nationwide, crow hunting is no longer permitted within the park.
During fall and winter months Bald Eagles, Peregrine Falcons, and a variety of waterfowl may be observed from the park.
