La Cygne lake has 2,600 surface acres of water. It is a power plant lake and freezing completely over is rare. Typically there is open water throughout the year.

There are three boat ramps in the main lake and one boat ramp in the cooling pool on the east side of the project. Two of these ramps are inside the Linn County Park and one ramp is maintained by KDWP. Usability is determined by the weather. For winter time ramp conditions call the Linn County Park at 913-757-6633
