Idaho
Idaho feels quieter than it should given how much it offers. It doesn’t advertise itself the way neighboring states do, but that’s part of what makes it work.
The state is built around water and access. Rivers, lakes, and forest roads give you multiple ways to structure a day, whether you’re fishing, camping, or just moving through the landscape.
Northern Idaho leans into lakes and forest, central Idaho into mountains and deeper wilderness, and southern Idaho into more open terrain shaped by rivers and desert conditions.
You can cover distance here, but the state is just as good when you slow down and stay within a smaller area. Summer is the easiest time to move through all regions, with fall offering a quieter version of the same experience.
