Event Details

There will be a guided tour of the Black Jack Battlefield on the date and at the time that the battle occurred 166 years earlier. Visitors should arrive not later than 4:45 a.m. that morning, consider bringing a flashlight, and wear appropriate clothing and footwear for hiking. 5:00 a.m. - 7:00 a.m.

This event is free and open to the public.

Buffalo Soldier Monument

The Buffalo Soldier Monument, the brainchild of General Colin Powell, is a recent addition to Fort Leavenworth's historic landmarks. Dedicated in 1992, the monument honors the African-American soldiers who served in the 9th and 10th Cavalry Regiments.
