The soaring, heartfelt melodies and toe-tapping honky-tonk classics of Patsy Cline are brought to life onstage with Always…Patsy Cline at Arts Express Theatre inside Park Place, running two weekends January 12-29, 2023.
Not merely a tribute to the beloved country music icon Patsy Cline and her music, the show is based on the true story of the friendship that developed between Patsy (Tiff Jensen) and Louise Seger (Diane Bertrand-Goldsmith), her most devoted fan. Louise narrates the story of the day in 1961 when she met Patsy at Houston's Esquire Ballroom. Afterward, Patsy kept in touch by writing her long hand-written letters, full of heartbreak and laughter, until the day she died tragically in a plane crash. She signed the letters (Love) Always, Patsy Cline.
With a book by Ted Swindley, Always…Patsy Cline is one of the most produced musicals in America, according to "American Theatre Magazine," and has enjoyed successful runs off-Broadway, as well as in the UK, Australia, and Canada.
Boasting nearly 30 of Patsy Clines' most cherished hits, such as "Crazy," "Walkin' After Midnight," "Sweet Dreams," "I Fall to Pieces," and "She’s Got You," fans are sure to fall in love with this fun loving, crowd-pleasing musical full of down-home country humor and a big heart.
Making his Tucson Directorial debut is Brian Doig, with music direction by Anne Grimes. Shows run January 12-29, 2023, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m., with matinees Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m.
