Bargain Hunters Rejoice! Each April, Fairbury hosts its annual Citywide Garage Sale, sponsored by Jefferson County 4-H Jr. Leaders. You'll be able to shop 'til you drop, simply pick up a map to take you from house to house. Call for maps and information. On the same day, don't miss the HUGE indoor garage sale located in the '47 Gym, 7th & K Streets (Hwy 15). The school gym is filled to capacity with lots and lots of garage sale bargains so no need to worry about the weather! In 1907, the Fairbury community received a grant of $12,500 from Andrew Carnegie. Ground was broken on October 5, 1908, and the library opened to the public December 10, 1909
