The community theater of Anywhere, USA is in its final week before the opening, trying to put on a play in spite of maddening interference from its haughty authoress, who keeps revising the script. Act I is a rehearsal of the play within this play; Act II is the near disastrous and hilarious dress rehearsal, and the final act is the actual performance in which anything that can go wrong does.
