Borger, Texas

Borger was established following the discovery of a rich Panhandle Oil Field in 1926. In just months, a boom town of tents and shacks sprang up, and the population numbered more than 40,000. Orderly growth soon replaced the ribald oil boom days, and now Borger is a center for oil, chemicals, and cattle. Tanks and towers of oil and petrochemical plants dominate the skyline. Borger is the home of Frank Phillips College.

  • Kansas Pheasant Hunting – Down but not out

HVargas / Foter It’s no secret to those who hunt pheasant and other upland birds that the successive years of drought in the central part of the United States has hurt bird populations.
