Annual International Birding Festival
- There is a valley full of birds waiting to be seen during this event. The Rio Grande Valley's warm climate offers 150 to 200 possible bird species this time of year in an area that has counted 500 different birds. Festival offers birders and other nature lovers a complete program of guided field trips, seminars, and other educational and fun events that explore the bio-diversity of South Texas and Northern Mexico.

Annual Charro Days Fiesta
- Celebrates the longtime friendship between Brownsville and its sister city, Matamoros, Mexico. The history of Charro Days dates back to 1937, and it's still going strong today. Baile del Sol kicks off the weeklong list of festivities. Children and adults from both sides of the border participate in the different parades that travel down Elizabeth Street.
