Depart from Garris Landing, Awendaw, SC, for a leisurely 30-minute ferry ride through rich salt marsh creeks, home to dolphin, egrets, pelicans and herons. Relax and enjoy the scenery within the state's most pristine wilderness, 62,000 acre Cape Romain Wildlife Refuge, the longest stretch of protected coastline on the East Coast. Bull Island is great for birding, hiking, shelling, dolphin watching and home to several endangered and threatened species. Also hike the island's 16 miles of inland trails through maritime forest and to the "Boneyard Beach."
