Old Empire Days

Old Empire Days has been celebrated each July 4 since 1992 and was named to reflect Galva's shared historical heritage with the old settlement of Empire. Empire Days is an annual community celebration to help fund the Galva Museum and attracts over 500 daytime fun seekers and over 1500 people for the fireworks. The Main Street in Galva is blocked off to allow the festivities of the day to take place, the museum is open and community church services are scheduled as part of the celebration. Along with popular activities, including a garden tractor pull, Hot Shot basketball contest, blind man's gator drive and treasure and money hunts, there are always several new events. The Empire Days Celebration closes with a fireworks display and a community street dance in the evening.
