Large fireworks display and a complete family day in the park. Carnival rides provided by Cardinal Amusements, baby contest, 5K run, tennis tournament, golf tournament, bike ride, horseshoe and bocce tournaments, food, arts and crafts, live music and activities for all ages. 8 AM.

Henry Laurens Call Home

This is the home of Socialist lawyer, author, and lecturer, Henry Laurens Call. Call built the first airplane west of the Mississippi River in 1908. It was called the "Girard Airship", dubbed by the townspeople as the "Mayfly" because, "it may fly!" It didn't. Call built fourteen planes in all.

The Higgie family was a founding family with 10 children (5 of whom settled in Girard). Captain John and three sons were ship captains on the Great Lakes. In 1883, they purchased 80 acres in northwest Girard and named it the "Higgie Addition."
