Ancient hardwood forest has been preserved as a tribute to the poet of "Trees," who was killed in action during World War I. Two-mile trail passes under enormous yellow poplars -- some over 100 feet high, 20 ft. in circumference, up to 450 years old. Wide variety of wildflowers carpet the ground under the huge, old trees.
