Lake Isabella Hunting

category : Hunting
Lake Isabella Hunting Where the South Fork of the Kern River enters Lake Isabella lies one of the most extensive riparian woodlands remaining in California. The South Fork Wildlife area provides fishing, hunting, canoeing, and hiking. The Kern River Valley was listed by the Department of Fish and Game as the highest population of native birds in southern California. Non-native birds, Pheasant and Chucker, are released to hunt in natural surrounding grain fields. The area is home to a variety of waterfowl such as the double-crested cormorant, hooded merganser, and the wood duck. Mammals found in the area include mule deer, beaver, coyote, grey fox, bobcat, raccoon, and occasionally black bear and mountain lion.

Big and small game mammals, furbearers, upland game birds, and waterfowl hunting is a popular activity on the Sequoia National Forest, and occurs only at specific times of the year. The California Dept. of Game and Fish provides information on licenses, permits, species and hunt dates.
